Christmas in the Moody House

This year's Christmas was the first with Sam.  My mom (Gigi) and brother (Uncle Jon) came up to join us for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  We had a wonderful time!  Scott and I had talked about traditions we wanted to begin with our children, and this year was the time to start.   Gigi always gives everyone pj's on Christmas Eve, so we were able to continue this tradition with her there.  A new tradition we wanted to start was leaving a new book outside Sam's door on Christmas morning.  This year, we gave him a little cardboard book entitled, "What is Christmas anyway?"  It's a great, simple read that tells what Christmas is really about: God's Son!  Our favorite tradition that we began was putting letters in Sam's stocking.  This year, Gigi and Uncle Jon wrote one, and of course, there was one in there from us.  Uncle Jon was so excited about his letter, he wanted it to be read out loud.  I started reading it and ended up rolling with laughter.  It was hilarious...in a sentimental kind of way.  Tears were pouring out my eyes from laughing so hard, then they just kept on flowing.  Scott had to read mom's out loud because I couldn't get through it, then my brother had to read ours because Scott couldn't get through it.  Whew!  It wasn't meant to be so emotional, but it really was a sweet time.  I look forward to all the letters that may find their way into Sam's stocking in the years to come!
Overall, I couldn't have asked for our Christmas to go any better!  Thank you Mom and Jonathan for making the trek up here, and for making Sam's first Christmas so special!  We love you.
